MEET OUR HEAD PERFORMANCE COACH
NICK McKELLAR, CSCS
We are very pleased to announce that Nick McKellar, CSCS has joined Team SGA as a Performance Coach. He is a powerful addition to the school and makes manifest our commitment to 360° high-performance athletic and personal development for our students. His dedication to advancing the next generation of youth and soccer talent dovetails perfectly with our mission and we are thrilled to have him.
He brings with him a wealth of experience both on the soccer pitch and behind the sidelines as a coach.
As a young man, Nick fell in love with the game of futbol on the fields of North Texas. That passion eventually led him to a 5 year professional international career with the game; three years playing in England and two subsequently in Spain.
Educationally, his qualifications are spot-on for our needs. Nick’s background includes a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and he is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through NSCA and carries a Sports Psychology and Mental Skills certification through United Soccer Coaches.
His years of youth coaching experience demonstrate a full-palette of work with young players. From youth camps, clinics, and after school programs, to individual clients, to U15 and U19 futsal coaching, to high school varsity and U19 ECNL experiences, Nick has done it all.
He has also coached on the professional soccer stage as well. Nick is currently serving as a Sports Scientist for the US Youth National Teams. He has also acted as Director of Performance for Austin Bold FC and Physical Development Coach for FC Cincinnati 2. All of this underscores SGA’s unique ability to bring real pros to the school to work with our students.

EVER GUZMÁN
Ever was a part of Mexico’s national U-17 Fifa World Cup winning team and the youngest-ever player to start with Atletico Morelia in Mexico at just 16 years old. After a decade at Atletico Morelia, he spent three seasons on USL side San Antonio FC as a leading scorer as before moving to USL Hartford Athletic.
From his time as a standout youth player to his career as a pro, Ever has tons of experience that he’s proud to bring to SGA student-players.
XAVIER BAEZ
You know him as a valued member of the Austin Bold side, but Xavier’s career has been very accomplished across the board. Starting his career at Chivas in Mexico in 2007, he played 6 years there. He was then loaned to Toluca for a successful season. He went on to be a starter at Cruz Azul and Nexana with rockstar performances in tournament play.
His professional career experience comes with him to the field at SG Academy every day.
In total, it’s a varied program that opens a world of learning to older students and sets them up for college time.

SGA is a full 12 month academic and training immersion program designed to give students a unique path to success. We’ve seen firsthand how declining student expectations in a range of traditional educational models have resulted in a youth falling behind. Parents are often forced seek supplementary educational support at a high cost. At SGA we believe in a higher standard. That standard means a more focused 12-month program resulting in a better prepared student body and success for the future.
